Summary:
China's Standardisation Administration published the proposed projects
of revising mandatory national standards for three vitamin feed
additives, in order to solicit public opinions.
According
to a notice released by the Department of Standard Technology
Management, State Administration for Market Regulation of People's
Republic of China on 23 Feb., the Standardisation Administration
published the proposed projects that involve mandatory national
standards for three vitamin feed additives in order to solicit public
opinions, with an opinions soliciting period ending on 24 March. The
projects, proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs
(MARA) and to be implemented by National Standardisation Technical
Committee of Feed Industry, entail revisions of those three standards.
Feed additives—Part 2: Vitamins, provitamins and chemically well-defined substances having similar effect—Nicotinamide
Feed additives—Part 2: Vitamins, provitamins and chemically well-defined substances having similar effect—Choline chloride
Goals and significance
By
conducting research work and combining the hygienic index criteria
(maximum limits) in mandatory national standards for feeds, the
mandatory criteria for hygienic indexes and physicochemical indexes of
nicotinamide or choline chloride will be put forward; meanwhile, the
advanced overseas standards will be consulted, so that the revised
national standards can represent the current international production
levels.
After the setting
of mandatory criteria, the production, application and trade of involved
products will be regulated; the scientific definition of fake and
inferior products will be provided, ensuring the safety of human food
chain; a guidance for the formation of feed additive standard system
will be given.
The actual
feed additive production levels in China will be reflected. China's
influence on the formulation and revision of international standards
will be strengthened.
Scope and main technical contents
Research
objects will be feed additive products nicotinamide or choline
chloride. The investigations on the production processes used by
producers of water-soluble vitamin feed additives or choline chloride
feed additives in China will be conducted, during which the prime focus
will be on quality and safety criteria; the investigations will take
their production status and application status into consideration. After
the comparison of the investigation results with advanced standards at
home and abroad, the mandatory criteria for nicotinamide products will
be put forward.
Similar
products in the domestic market will be collected, for the purpose of
investigating the mandatory criteria made for these products. By
consulting the investigation results, a scientifically reasonable
criteria range will be formed. Based on the formed criteria range, the
standard drafts for nicotinamide products or choline chloride products
will be formulated.

Feed Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
Major
drafters of (the involved standard for) choline chloride: Shanghai
Animal Disease Control Centre, Shandong FY Feed Technology Co., Ltd.,

Institute of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
Feed additives—Part 2: Vitamins, provitamins and chemically well-defined substances having similar effect—L-Calcium ascorbate Goals and significance
L-Calcium
ascorbate is produced by applying microbial fermentation method as well
as mainly using L-Ascorbic acid and calcium salt (calcium carbonate,
etc.) as raw materials. Product standards for food-grade and feed-grade
L-Calcium ascorbate already exist in China and other countries.
Some problems have been found during the implementation of the national standard Feed Additive L-Calcium Ascorbate (GB 34463-2017), so revisions are needed.
Scope and main technical contents
Standard scope: L-Calcium ascorbate that is produced by using L-Ascorbic acid and calcium salt as raw materials
Major technical changes:
In
the chapter "4.1 Identification Experiments", infrared
spectrophotometry identification and determination methods are
introduced.
The chapter
"4.2.4 Calculation of Results" of the standard states: Each millilitre
of 1 mol/L iodine titration solution is equivalent to 0.1066 grams of
L-Calcium ascorbate (C12H14CaO12·2H2O).
After revision, it will be changed to: the molar mass M of L-Calcium
ascorbate, with units in grams per mole (g/mol), [M 1/4 (C12H14CaO12·2H2O)=106.6]; with 1000 as a conversion factor.
